Why?
Research has shown that students who are engaged, motivated and immersed in an interactive experience have a greater ability to learn and retain information than those in a traditional classroom setting. This is why one of the top educational priorities at C-FC is student engagement. It is also why the Wisconsin Department of Education has developed a strategic plan which includes promoting innovative education so that every learner is engaged, challenged and seen. Bringing an ENGAGEMENT LAB to C-FC combines these two priorities and will allow teachers to bring lessons to life in an interactive environment with endless possibilities. Students will be engaged and excited to learn which will lead to better learning outcomes and the ability to apply their knowledge in real-life settings. Instead of just reading about science and animals and engines, our students will become scientists and veterinarians and mechanics!
What?
Bringing an ENGAGEMENT LAB to C-FC will involve the physical transformation of a dedicated classroom using high-tech video and audio equipment that will provide an immersive environment for learning. The use of this equipment will allow teachers to quickly and easily transform the setting, going from Jurassic Park to a construction site to a medical clinic—all within minutes. In addition to the physical classroom transformation, the ENGAGEMENT LAB purchase will include engaging and meaningful professional development for the C-FC teaching staff led by the nationally recognized Get Your Teach On trainers. This training will provide C-FC teachers with best practices and strategies to create engaging and rigorous lessons for their students. The C-FC Engagement Lab—which will be the first of its kind in Wisconsin—will allow our teachers to transform their instruction like never before, taking student learning to new heights!
